Sitka type animal fawns are often orphaned in areas with active logging and animals are run over by trucks. Nevertheless the reproductive potential of the animal is very high, and depressed populations recover rapidly.

Normal dispersed hunting pressure has little influence on Sitka Black-tailed Deer. Hunting is concentrated in the alpine and sub alpine areas.
