The dog has a smooth, shorthaired coat that is easy to keep in peak condition. You need to brush it regularly with a firm bristle brush, and dry shampoo occasionally. Bathing in needed with mild soap only when necessary; the nails should be kept trimmed.

The breed is probably a descendent of two ancient breeds: the Transylvanian hound, and the Turkish yellow hound (now extinct).
