This is one of the smallest species of the Fellidae family and is close to a domestic feline as far as size is concerned. They are about 7 pounds and have a tawny/buff fur covered with dark brown or black elongated spots. Their litter size is about 1-3 cubs at the average and the life span is about 11-15 years in the wild.

This species inhabits the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. Like other felines, these animals are nocturnal and pure carnivorous.
