These animals originally came from England. In the 1600’s a racing industry had began. Wealthy landowners began breeding horses especially for racing. The native stallions had endurance, but their speed was rather little and the breed imported to improve the native horses was the Arabian.

The first horse of this breed to arrive to America was Bulle Rock in 1730. There were actually several foundation sires of this breed.
