Some stallions played an important role in the formation of this breed. These stallions are are Eclipse (born in 1764), Herod (1785), and Matchem (1748). Since the 18th century, breeders did not use the bloods of other horse breeds in this horse type breeding. Canadian thoroughbred babies should be obtained from reputable breeders.
