Foal

When buying a foal, visit a breeder and see all horses available. A great number of horses and ponies can be divided into four groups. “Heavy” horses can weigh up to 2000 pounds and are strong with large bones and sturdy legs. “Light” horses have small bones, thin legs and weighing less than 1300 pounds. Ponies are as a rule not more than 58 inches tall. Wild or semi-wild horses are in the fourth group. When buying a foal, visit a breeder and see all horses available.

People, buying a horse for riding should already have some riding experience or at least have taken riding lessons. A future owner should understand his or her riding abilities to be in a better position when choosing a horse and as riding is a team sport, the animal’s temper should also be taken into consideration. When buying a foal, visit a breeder and see all horses available.
