Considered a rare breed outside their native country (Thailand), these dogs have a muscular body with a strong and firm back and a blue or bluish gray tongue. The coat is dense and comes in chestnut, black, blue, and silver.

There are no strict requirements in the standard as far as the height is concerned. Normally, they are about 20-24 inches high and weigh about 51-75 pounds (23-34 kg.). The breed is recognized by the FCI, ATRA, SKC, ARBA, FSS, and KCTH. A thai ridgeback dog may need training, just like other dogs.
