These are the biggest cats on the earth. The scientific name of the animal is Panthera tigris altaica. They were found in the forests of eastern Asia, northern China and Manchuria. There are about 200 species of the animals left in wild. These felines weigh 500-700 pounds, and their body length is 8-10 feet. Males are larger than females. Being solitary animals, they maintain home ranges and mark their territory with urine and a secretion from the anal gland to keep competitors away.

They are very graceful and beautiful cats, they spend most of their time hunting and they usually hunt deer but if there is not much to choose they may also hunt monkeys, fowl, tortoises, and even frogs. They are elegant hunters, and hunting does not come easy to them. Only one out of every 10 attacks ends successfully, and sometimes they have to stay without food for several days or feed on smaller game. Old and disabled species are likely to attack humans.
