By age of 6 months, the young can hunt medium-sized game. They become fully independent at 18 months old, and reach full puberty at 3-4 years old. Males grow larger than females, but females mature earlier. These animals are not monogamous and males do not take part in raising the young. Males start to breed when they are four or five years old. These cats live in the wild about 10-17 years and in zoos they usually live longer: about 16-20 years.
