They can be found in the Russian Far East, Northeast China and North Korea, and are well accustomed to cold weather. They live in mountain woodlands with large numbers of prey and shelters. They have a powerful body with massive paws, and a striped coat that changes color seasonally. The stripes are sparser than those in other tiger subspecies. These tigers feed on large game, such as deer, elk and wild boar. Siberian tigers mate in winter, and cubs are born in spring.
