Their body parts and whiskers are popular among Chinese folk medicine men, and this medicine market has taken its toll on all the remaining subspecies. The Amur subspecies used to be common in China and Korea, but nowadays, these animals can only be found in the Sikhote-Alin reserve of Russia.
