Sanshu Dog -
breeder, picture
The breed first appeared in about 1912 on Honshu, Japan's main island, a very populated and developed region. The new breed was the result of crossing native middle-sized Japanese dogs with the Chow Chow from China. In appearance, they resemble the Akita.
