In the fall, it is necessary to quit feeding the reptiles and prepare them to hibernate. They should be left in a cold room for about eight weeks. In the beginning of February, the reptiles should be brought back to their usual room. After a period of about four weeks, they start shedding. The male is introduced to the female enclosure about one week after the female sheds. After mating, the female sheds once again.
