This breed is not recognized by the AKC, but there are other registries that accept it; the first organization that registered the breed was the UKC. The breed standard was developed in 1994, but the breed includes so many variations that a strict standard is impossible.

There are three sizes for this breed: standard, mid-sized and toy, there are also some other types. The breed is also differentiated according to the body type and coat type.
