The females give birth to 2-4 babies in a litter. The babies live with their mothers for a year and than leave them. By 20 months they reach their adulthood. Colors of the adult cats’ coat vary from reddish-brown to red-grey; the youngsters coat is grayer and darker.

Their bodies are very large and muscular with powerful hind quarters; generally speaking, they look and move very much like their wild relatives. In captivity, desert Lynx can live up to 19 years.
