Portuguese Water Dog
A portuguese water dog should be acquired from a responsibe breeder or from rescues.
The original function of these creatures was to help fishermen herding fish into the nets, retrieving lost tackle and broken nets. These animals were also couriers from ship to ship and from ship to shore. They are able to work in warm weather of the Atlantic coast and near the coast of Iceland.

Also called Cao de Agua.
The AKC accepted this breed to the Miscellaneous class in 1981. in 1984 these creatures were allowed to compete in the Working group. This breed should be kept outdoors and requires a job to do; otherwise the animal becomes bored. A portuguese water dog should be acquired from a responsibe breeder or from rescues.
