The animal’s primary prey is the ringed seal. They also hunt bearded seals, harp seals, hooded seals, walruses, and sea birds. During summer these animals may remain on islands or coastlines with landfast ice, drift on ice flows, or get stranded on land where they are forced to endure warm weather.
