A Turtle is a water-dwelling reptile shielded from predators by a shell. They are characterized by long webbed limbs enabling them to swim rather fast. Marine Turtles are larger than freshwater species, with the largest Leatherback Sea Turtle, reaching a shell length of 200 cm. Many Turtle species are extinct and endangered because of excessive hunting for food and for shells.
