Standardbreds are relatively a new breed; it has been around for only 200 years. It is an offspring of the English Thoroughbred, and possesses many of his traits. The Standardbred is smaller than its father, and it stands 15.2 hands tall at an average. Colors are varied, with bay, brown and black being the most common ones. Pacing Standarbreds move one-side legs in unison, and trotters have a diagonal gait.
