Brindle is not a breed of horse, but rather a coat color. This color can be distinguished from others because it looks like a darker color paint was poured over the horse. This brindle color has occurred in various horse breeds, as well as mules and donkeys. The first known brindle colored horse was found in Russia in the 1800s. This cab horse was preserved and put in the Zoological Museum in Leningrad.
