The New Forest Pony was named for the forest in southern England where it originated. This breed is one of the recognized breeds of mountain and moorland ponies of the British Isles. Of the pony breeds native to England, most would agree that the New Forest Pony is the least afraid of man. It has a quiet and willing temperament.
