With ocelot markings and coloration, margays are smaller with longer legs and tail. They inhabit Mexico down to Northern Argentina forested areas. Demonstrating its most accomplished, agile, climbing ability, they move with monkey-like ease running down tree trunks head first, or upside down beneath branches. They hunt at night for birds, small monkeys, tree frogs and insects among the forest canopy (sometimes from the ground) and augment meals with fruit. Destruction of habitat endangers margays.
