Rare exotic animals come in many different species — wombats, white tigers, macaws, and so forth - and their pictures are exciting to view. Poachers often over hunt unusual non-indigenous and sometimes endangered species because they net high prices. Owning exotic pets may signal a higher status, but host potentially negative issues. Their diet, care and management are generally very specialized (not cheap or easy.) Impulsive purchases typically lead to abandonment because one lacks resources for their care.
