Mountain Goats are sure-footed, agile animals due to padded skid-proof hoofs. Their coat is white with a double beard of long hair on the chin. The narrow head sports slim, black, shiny horns slightly curving backwards 10 to 12 inches. Weighing 150-300 pounds, they stands 35-45 inches. In the Rocky Mountains above the timberline, they eat tundra grasses, flowers, shrubs, and trees. Their greatest threat is diminished food supply predisposing them to disease, parasites, predators, and accidents.
