The Standard Schnauzer, also named the Mittelschnauzer, is a medium-sized, square-shaped, hairy, double-coated dog with whiskers, mustache, and beard. It is either jet black or salt or pepper in coloration. While resembling a Terrier, it is not related to them. It's the original breed of Schnauzer, and there are 3 varieties. It has a dignified, courtly, aristocratic bearing. They've accumulated many uses over the years. They were messengers in Europe during WWI, rodent guards and assailants, and as guards of livestock, children, and farm animals. They've also been used for tracking, retrieving, and hunting. They're featured in dog shows for feats of obedience, agility, and tricks. They're excellent watchdogs. Its lifespan is 12 to 14 years. It has a wiry, rough coat and whiskers. It thrives outdoors. It needs daily walks, park outings, and playtime. It’s possible that this can be an outdoor dog. They were first showed in the ring at the beginning of the 20th century. It technically originated in Bavaria in the early 1400’s. It’s a drover, catcher, and guardian. It was the most common dog used to guard carts in marketplaces in Europe, and it’s used frequently in narcotic and bomb detecting. The Standard Schnauzer is considered extremely healthy. Dogs weigh 30 to 45 pounds; bitches weigh 30 to 40 pounds. Dogs are 18 to 20 inches at the withers; bitches are 17 to 19 inches at the withers. It hails from Germany and was created in the Dark Ages. This dog is a serious joker that’s suited that’s makes for a superb watchdog. It’s protective of its family, but it likes to joke around. It acts steeled, seasoned, and, well, a bit clownish too. This dog can be demanding, willful, stubborn, and loyal. It needs human companionship, although it loves the outdoors. Don’t use that as an excuse to leave it outdoors all the time without human association or relations. The black Wolfspitz and black German Poodle were bred into the breed to produce the gray or salt and pepper coloration. These dogs are ultra-intelligent, and many people assert that their human-like intelligence is odd. The dog accepts family friends with proper introductions. It will loudly bark at any intruder that comes in uninvited. The Standard Schnauzer is a heavy-set, brawny, robust dog. His rough coat and sturdy build are the hallmarks of this breed. Those parts of the United Kingdom that include England, New Zealand, and Australia call this dog, simply, the Schnauzer. The Standard Schnauzer is not just a smaller version of the Giant Schnauzer. It’s not a larger version of the Miniature Schnauzer. It’s a separate breed. Standard Schnauzers had their first official club when the Schnauzer Club of America was formed. The Standard Schnauzer is not a dull, calm, docile dog that’s friendly and boisterous toward everyone. The Standard Schnauzers take their own route and protect their families cautiously.
