Siberian Laikas are classified by regions. Western Siberian Laikas are solid or piebald in white, gray, tan, red or black, and used for hunting elk and deer in icy conditions. Hunters greatly depended upon them for survival. East Siberian Laikas today are interbred with wolf-like spitzen. It is usually black or black piebald; tan or white allowed. Laikas are wolf-like, however, their temperament is even, calm, easily trained, and very obedient.
