The Samoyed dog was developed by the Samoyede nomads about the same time the Nenets Herding Laika was being developed by the Nentsy tribe. Then the Nentsy people went on to develop the Russian Samoyed Laika. This breed was created for guarding and herding. This dog is the favored herding breed in Russia.
