The Toy Poodle is just a variation of the Standard Poodle and Miniature Poodle; they're recognized as composing the same breed. Their differentiation is marked with the adult's shoulder height. The Poodle's origin was somewhere in Europe. Considerable disagreement exists between France, Germany, and Denmark over the origin. The French, however, have claimed the right, and most people agree. It was probably descended from a French water dog, possibly the Barbet. Some Barbets are still around today. They tend to be introverted or grumpy around rough children or disturbing visitors. Toy Poodles tend to bark a lot unless they’re trained. This breed is an instinctual hunter because of its long history outdoors hunting, pointing, and retrieving waterfowl. Some people want sitting lap dogs, but this dog does not bond to one family member exclusively. Plus, it’s got plenty of energy. “Pudel” means puddle.
