As their name implies, the Chinese Foo Dog originated in China and is known as the Happiness or Celestial Dog. Foochow is the city from which the name was derived. Its ancestry can be traced back over 3000 years. In the beginning, this breed's primary duties included hunting, protecting the family and other working dog tasks. Easily trainable, this dog makes a wonderful family pet.
