The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is also called the Otto, and it's quite rare. Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog was first conceived and birthed in the Alapaha River area of Southern Georgia, United States. It weighs 50 to 90 pounds, and it's 19 to 26 inches high at the withers.

Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog coat is close-knit, close-lying, coarse, and it carries a soft undercoat as well. It comes in merle, brindle, brown, buckskin, fawn, blue, brown, mahogany, or red. It has white or chocolate trimmings too. There are 5 to 12 puppies in a litter. Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs live 12 to 15 years. The breed is steadfast, strong, and fully muscular. The ears aren't cropped, and the tail is not docked. Infrequently, the dogs are piebald spotted. However, all dogs have the white markings.

The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is a bulldog variety that's primarily used for guarding and watching property and people alike. Its main health problem is entropion, or inversion of the eyelids for the layman. There are only a couple hundred of these dogs. The Animal Research Foundation maintains the registry. The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog breed was first successfully conceived by the Lane clan of Rebecca, Georgia. It's a plantation dog that was almost lost. Thus, many people try to preserve Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog breed for reasons of sentiment. Everyone agrees that the Otto is a unique breed if they've seen the right pictures. Some suggest it's the same as the American Bulldog. Several families and breeders claim the Otto as their own unique creation, pure in their own right, but the Lane family holds the most veritable right to its conception. The program began in the 19th century to preserve the brave plantation dog. It could do chores, protect livestock, and guard the family. It was a versatile companion that protected the farm. They retrieved slaves, livestock, and other things. They were extremely intelligent, dutiful, trainable, and workable. They were not obstinate or lazy like some American Bulldogs. The Otto is a unique breed with a working dog's tenacity.

The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog was rescued from utter devastation by Buck Lane, and later on, Lana Lou Lane. She registered the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog breed, and the family maintained it for several generations. She even opened up an exclusive kennel for them. Lana Lou Lane worked with Tom Stodgehill of the Animal Research Foundation to become the first certified breeder of ABBBs. "Blue blood" is a name that's owed to their innate nobility.

The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog thinks before he fights. It's not violent by nature. However, after much reflection, it will definitely defend its family. It's the ideal guard dog because it is not randomly aggressive. It's protective of its family when it's time to be. Otherwise, the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is quite docile and friendly toward the family. It greets strangers warmly when it's not threatened.
