The Boerboel originated in Africa and was bred strictly as a protector and guard dog. So naturally, the Boerboel excels as a guard dog. It is said that your Boerboel should know what you are thinking, when you feel threatened, and know if you approve or disapprove of a stranger and share your feeling.
