A wide, short muzzle and a heavy dewlap characterize Molussus dogs. The Romans procured the Molossus dogs from a conquered Greece. In battles, arenas, and lion or tiger hunts, Molussus dogs accompanied their masters. Several different breeds descended from these dogs with many traits in common. Large powerful animals, defenders of person and property, Molussus dogs were culled to look and act fearsome when needed, but remain affectionate with his family and family’s friends.
