The Bearded Collie, probably much like the Scottish shepherds that bred them originally, has a frock of shaggy hair and a noteworthy beard. Nowadays, they make their rounds in dog shows. Like any pet, Bearded Collies also live in domestic homes as well. They originally herded sheep full-time, and their high energy levels are a purported carry-over from these days. However, unlike the rigors of the sheep-laden fields of former years, the Bearded Collie breed prefers a cozy indoor life with plenty of family. Thus, it's not advisable to leave it alone in the house all day. This Bearded Collie dog is a servant at heart without timidity or brazen aggression. It's a doting member of the family whether they live in the countryside, a cottage, or a house in the city.

The reliable, stand-alone Bearded Collie sheepdog is bred to handle the toughest weather conditions and most unruly flocks of sheep. It's important to distinguish between the show dog and the working dog before you import one to your pastures. A few good Bearded Collie breeders have resurrected the working dog version, and it's a staple on many farms today. Check out the Working Bearded Collie Society's website to find a good one. Whether you have cattle, sheep, or other livestock like goats, the Bearded Collie will know the steps to herding them. Some show Bearded Collie dog versions are weak and unreliable for the tough herding work. They're less than hardy in the words of some notable shepherds in the United Kingdom. The Bearded Collie bounces, barks, and moves its body persuasively to get the sheep to work for him. If the Bearded Collie doesn't bounce, there's something wrong.

The Bearded Collie, or the Beardie, has some stipulations and obstacles to ownership. Muddy feet, profuse bouncing in the house, long, dense coats, and soaking beards are some of its messy qualities. The Bearded Collie a curious, persistent, calm, adorable creature that acts akin to a human in its myriad emotional displays. Their shaggy coats are combinations of black, blue, silver, fawn, light chestnut, nutmeg, cinnamon, or reddish and tan. Bearded Collies are people-friendly, but they need lots of love and regular grooming. They bark at new things like doorbells, visitors, events, and when things are just starting up. The morning wake-up call rings a bell. Bearded Collies like to play fetch, Frisbee, flyball, swim, jog, run, sprint, and have fun in the sun. They live from 12 to 14 years, and they're longer than they are tall. Go to the Bearded Collie Club of America for information and facts pertaining to this shaggy tail wagger. Bearded Collies are long-lived, affable creatures, and Bearded Collies get along well with people and pets alike.
