Pomeranians are tiny toy dogs that fill a room with gusto, energy, and surprises. This dog has many names; among them are Zwergspitz, Dwarf Spitz, Toy German Spitz, Loulou, and Pom. The Pomeranian measures 7 to 12 inches, weighs 3 to 7 pounds, and it has a lifespan teetering on 15 years at the top and approximately 9 years at the bottom of the range. Of course, their small size, energetic buoyancy, and distinct appearance are factors that make a pet owner extremely sorrowful when they pass away. The Pomeranian has an indelible look that all people register – even if they don’t quite know the name of the breed. Most people are familiar with the dog’s common showing of bright orange, gold, cream, or red in their coat. These warm, flash colors – combined with the dog’s profuse, prominent, abounding double coat – are hard to forget. Combine bright colors, a fluffy coat, and pure vibrancy and intelligence for a fun mix. The dog’s temperament is well suited to a dog of its stature. It often notices things that are off kilter or a little awry and has a piercing loud bark that alerts owners to problems. Thus, its watchdog tendencies are amazing. It can be a little proud, stubborn, and cunning, but its energy, intelligence, and happiness around its owners’ presence is remarkable. They’re great little dogs, and they’re wonderful for young adults that don’t want the maintenance of a powerful, large dog to handle. The Pomeranian can live beyond 15 years, even up to 19 years, with proper preventive measures and a healthy diet. It hails from Central Europe, and it looks much like a Chihuahua when its skin is exposed through bathing. The breeds might seem identical to a layman. The Pomeranian has two coats, and the outer coat is fluffy, thick, and fun to stroke. The inner coat is rough, coarse, and long. Colors of Pomeranians can include black, blue, tan, chocolate, cream, orange, red, and sable. A cobby dog has a length equal to or lesser than its height. Some of these are cobby in nature. Aggressive is not the word to describe their energetic tendencies. Brazen is more akin to their natural character traits. Some describe them as feisty, funky, or happily alert. Since Pomeranians can't do without attention, other pets that compete for attention may find themselves in a standoff. Small children sometimes don't do well with Pomeranians because they can lash out and bite a little if they're mishandled or improperly treated, taunted, or struck. Small children sometimes don't know how to handle them with adequate care. People that love small kittens or cats might make a step up to a Pomeranian, but they should know that this breed needs attention and early familial love. It needs to know that you're the boss as well. Inappropriate or excessive barking or biting may result if not given care and attention. Some barking should be allowed so as not to dissuade Pomeranians from their watchdog traits.
