Boxers are German in descent, and they're part Mastiff. They descended from bull baiters. The Boxer has a short, glossy, tight coat that's either fawn or brindled in coloration. It's the 7th most popular dog breed in the United States, and it embodies the best characteristics of various dog breeds. White markings may cover most of the coat, in contrast to the fawn or brindled coloration. It weighs between 55 and 70 pounds, and it has a height of between 21 to 25 inches. The lifespan is 12 years at most. 9-10 years is the median lifespan. It used to be common to see docked tails and cropped ears in this breed, but outcry from veterinary associations, pet owners, and pet rescue groups have generally put the practice at bay. Cropped ears are sometimes still seen in professional dog shows. The Boxer, as a substantially cool family dog, is above par. Its well-known ability for getting along beautifully with children makes it a worthy choice of breed. It loves to jump and use its paws in a boxing motion. Thus, the name, Boxer, was born. The dog is used in a wide range of law enforcement and military jobs; furthermore, it's an excellent choice for obedience exercises. The dog is pleasant, jumpy, and barrels of fun. It retains an athletic acumen into its later years. Moreover, it can get along well with other dogs of the same kind and cats too. It's a great barnyard animal. However, they've been known to chase birds like chicken, geese, and ducks. It plays funny games with its food and water bowls if they're empty. It's not uncommon to see the bowls go sliding along the floor with the dogs' paws over them or to see upturned bowls. These are not really fun games. They are methods for garnering attention to make sure you feed it. The Boxer thrives with human attention and companionship, and it will be wary of uncommon visitors, but it will be very upbeat around people that often stop by. The Boxer has a severe host of health problems that progress as they age. Drooling, snoring, flatulence, and deafness are mild, if not comical. However, Hip Dysplasia, skin irritation, and a troubling incidence of tumors are reported. The best prevention is a dog diet advocated by Weston A. Price. Mild, normal temperatures that are not too cold or too hot are excellent for this dog. In fact, they have trouble dispelling heat when it's hot and getting warm when it's chilly. Also, they do ok in apartments, but a normal-sized yard is best for them. Moderate exercise is a must. Fetch and daily walks are necessary for a Boxer. Boxers, hilariously, are very kempt and clean and treat themselves like cats do.
