It is believed that the Black Forest Hound is related to the Polish Balkan Hound, Transylvanian Hound, and Czechy Fousek. The coat on this dog is hard, wiry and about 2 inches in length. This breed is principally a working dog. It is used by law enforcement as a police dog and is still used to chase boar in certain parts of the world.
