Belgian Groenendaels are popular Belgian sheepdogs with moderately long black silky coat and a solid (not heavy) muscular body. The head carriage of this elegant dog is proud. Belgian Groenendaels are very smart, obedient dogs with strong protective instincts. Intensive socialization from early age using gentle firm training will overcome their timidity, yield their highest cooperation, and minimize chasing, herding, and nipping instincts. They make excellent guard and police dogs and thrive on companionship.
