The Teddy Roosevelt Terrier is an American breed. English miners brought terriers to the United States that were used as ratters, and soon became known as "Rat Terriers." There were two types of Rat Terriers that evolved. The short-legged one resulted almost certainly from crosses with Dachshunds or Corgis. President Teddy Roosevelt once owned these ratters and this variety was named in his honor.
