This breed was named after Sussex, England because this was the location for the first and most instrumental kennel of the Sussex Spaniel. They worked as field dogs in the 18th century and became well known as excellent hunting companions among the estates surrounding Sussex County. This dog has a unique coat color that is a rich golden liver. Today, this breed is an excellent companion and pet for families.
