At one time, the Small Greek Domestic Dog and the Alopekis were considered the same breed. Over time, they were classified as separate breeds. Due to the small size of this breed, they have been companion dogs for centuries. A large number of images on ancient friezes, pottery, and amphorae show this breed as a companion to women and children.
