Pugs have a stocky, small, cobby body and have a lot of personality in a small frame. This lovable toy dog often vies with other toys dogs for the most precious award. This metric is not purely subjective. In fact, many features of its personality and appearance are outright alien-like and extraordinary. Happy, active, animated, alert, chipper, cute and curious – the Pug can even act wild, boisterous, or somewhat disorderly. They have such big personalities in their small bodies – a key to their charm. They’re often described as “Multum in Varo”. Multum in Varo is Latin for “much in little”. Their compact bodies have a height of between 12 to 14 inches and a weight of between 13 and 20 pounds. The Pug is of ancient Chinese origin. There are documented written histories of pugs being guarded by soldiers in the palaces of great emperors. The short-nosed dogs were revered, and the modern-day pug is a direct descendant of the ancient Foo Dog. Traders, nomads, and importers brought the Pug to the shores of Holland and England, and it became more modernized and dignified with English breeding. Eventually, kings, duchesses, and princes all over Europe picked Pugs for their dogs. Much like the royalty that care for him, the Pug has a temperament that is silly and cheery at heart with an outstandingly reserved and dignified demeanor. Pugs need love to be reciprocated so that they feel fulfilled. These dogs shouldn't be left without any love. Pug health requires tomes of research, but there's plenty of interesting information. A Pug will have noxious reactions to several hundred plants. Aloe, Foxglove, Iris, Morning Glory, and Japanese Show Lily are just some. A host of health problems accompany it too. Colitis, Tonsillitis, Cataracts, and skin problems are included. A good family veterinarian well versed in Pug care is your best defense. Pugs crave approval so don't force it to be a whiner by subjecting it to careless health habits. Give it plenty of good food and moderate outdoors exercise. The Pug has no dearth of good qualities. It's adorable over a lifetime and not pugnacious. Pugnacious, the word has nothing to do with the Pug breed. Pugs also have the puppy dog eyes that are quintessentially large and memorable. Overly affectionate owners are prone to give them too much food because of this characteristic. They really shed a lot even though the fur looks short enough. They're fawn or black, and they snore loudly. Children are great mixers for Pugs. Pugs love attention, and they're eager to become a part of the family structure. Pugs have been around since 675 B.C., and they were carried upfront in the carts, chariots, and baskets of noblemen.
