The Maremma Sheepdog originated in Italy as a flock guardian. This dog was bred for generations in the Maremma and Abruzzi regions of Italy. Today, the Maremma Sheepdog still maintains the same instincts and traits that have made it a successful flock guardian. Those traits include bravery, loyalty, intelligence, and a sound distrust of strangers. Today, this dog still makes a great protector of flocks and families alike.
