The Lucas Terrier was developed by crossing Sealyham terriers and Norfolk Terriers. Capt Jocelyn Lucas created this breed in the 1940s. The Lucas Terrier was bred to work in a pack and push game out of heavy cover for the awaiting hunters. Today, there are two sorts of Lucases, Sporting Lucas Terriers, bred from the working lines, and the show Lucas.
