The Hungarian Greyhound is thought to have descended from the Asian Greyhounds. Asian Greyhounds were brought to Hungary by the Magyars in the ninth century and then crossed with local hounds. The Hungarian Greyhound might not be as fast as the Greyhound, however it is more resilient and is also a vigorous tracker. They are used to hunt hare and fox in Hungary.
Also called Magyar Agar.
