Jack Russell developed the English Jack Russell Terrier in 1819. This breed was developed as a short terrier that would go into the earth and force the varmints from their dens. They are described as sturdy, small, and balanced terriers. The English Jack Russell Terrier is a persistent breed and if a varmint doesn't bolt, the dog will not leave, meaning the owner has to dig down to them.
