Originally from the country of Madagascar, the Coton de Tulear is one of the rarest breeds around today. Bred for royalty and the upper social class, this Coton de Tulear dog was given its name because of its soft, white coat. This breed is very intelligent and makes a good house pet. Coton de Tulears like to swim and play. The Coton de Tulear enjoys wide-open spaces and can follow their masters on horseback for many miles.
