This working breed has been used for flock and livestock guardians, estates guardians, and personal guardians. It is believed that the Central Asian Shepherd is about 4000 years old, however not much is known regarding its true origin. Some believe that the Tibetan Mastiff is a forefather, due to the nomadic life style of the people who used this breed. This breed requires an owner who understands the flock guard type and the temperament that comes along with it.
