Those that have been unearthed appear to be the same. The very first Abyssinian cats were from Ethiopia, which is now Abyssinia. This breed, with its unique ears and stately appearance, bears many resemblances to the African wildcat, an ancestor of today's domestic cat. The Abyssinian cat has a 9 to 15 year life term.
