The European Burmese and the Burmese of North America originated from the same cat named, Wong Mau. Dr.Thompson introduced the first Burmese to the western world. A red gene was introduced to the European Burmese; consequently, it has more colors than Burmese of North America. The European Burmese makes a loyal pet and has a high intelligence level.
