The British Shorthair is thought to have originated from the domestic cat of Rome and to be the oldest of the English breeds. Originally, it was esteemed for its strength and hunting ability. Today, this breed is known for its calm demeanor and intelligence. This reputation has made it a favorite of animal trainers, for use in Hollywood films and television commercials.
